since i have the vista beta version 2 i tried out my sound system seem that only the two front speakers workd i checken the options everything seems fine but when i click on 5.1 in the options the speakers on the rear seem to be on the side maybe thats why i get no sound from the rear ??? i wonder if there is any update that will resolve this problem . i have a logitech 5400 5.1 surround system connected to my motherboard.

I have a 5.1 surround problem !
I managed to get mine working (I'm using the Audigy 2 with the Creative Beta driver) by telling Vista (via the Control Panel applet "Audio Devices and Sound Themes") that I have a 7.1 system - then disabled the side speakers. Somehow there's some confusion between Microsoft and Creative as to how 5.1 is defined. Creative defines it correctly, with fronts and rears; Microsoft is expecting fronts and sides.

I had/have this problem as well.
You have to change it in Vista by right clicking on the speaker icon in the system tray->audio devices->Play Control->Configuration. Set it to 5.1
Then go to the Creative Audio Panel and set the speakers for 5.1 there as well.
Works for me but I have to reconfigure it everytime I reboot.
